Background:
Born in Beaumont, Texas in 1946 Larry Graham Jr. was then raised in Oakland, California. By his teens he was a good bass guitarist and was also highly adept at guitar, harmonica and at playing drums. At the age of 15 he began performing with the Dell Graham Trio - his Mother’s Lounge Act. While attending college he was a supporting musician for John Lee Hooker, Jackie Wilson, Jimmy Reed and The Drifters.

Known For:
In 1968, Graham joined funk legends Sly and The Family Stone and became known as the originator of the slap and pop bass technique that would typify the funk movement of the early 1970′s, and that would leak in to modern music in various forms by people pushing the boundaries and tonal palette of the bass guitar.

He went on to form Graham Central Station as a sort of showcase for his self-created percussive slap technique.

Larry Graham Jr., is also a Baritone singer, a songwriter and record producer.
