Born in Richmond California, Les Claypool is a musician who first became known for his signature style of bass playing. His total mastery of the bass guitar has brought him in to the limelight and known the world over as a peer to a generation of budding bass players. Now residing in the village of Occidental in Sonoma County, California with his wife and two children. Les is and Avid Fisherman.
Known For:
Les Claypool’s signature style is a mish mash of finger tapping and picking, with flamenco-like strumming and a splash of the slap technique used by such early greats as Larry Graham. The combination of these styles of playing has earned him the respect of the bass world for being one of rock’s greatest bass players.
Claypool is probably most notably known for his work with American Rock band Primus, who’s diverse sound managed to gain them a following that spanned many different sub-genres of music. Also as famous among teh bass world is his bass. the one-off custom fretless 6 string rainbow bass by, Carl Thompson.
As a multi-instrumentalist, a novelist, music producer, actor and film director, he has been involved with many different music projects - Sausage, Primus, Oysterhead, and The Frog Brigade to name a few.
