Squarepusher - new solo bass record on the way

The UK’s very own Tom Jenkinson AKA ‘Squarepusher’ is set to release a brand spanking new record via Warp Records on August 17th, 2009. Not only that, but its going to be  solo bass record.

Anyone familiar with ‘Squarepusher’, will  know but for those who don’t, from the mid 90’s onwards he has combined frenetic electronic beats and sequencers with Acid, Jazz and Techno, Drum and Bass, and also live bass guitar  - at which he is a master. He was recently described by Flea from the Red Hot Chili Peppers as “the best electric bassist on the face of the earth”. It’s a tall order, but we here at Bassted.com don’t believe him to be far wrong.

The new record focuses solely on the mastery Jenkinson has over his instrument and was recorded in Paris in 2007 at Cité de la Musique as part of a small tour, of which the performances consisted of Jenkinson, a bass guitar and a small amplifier.

The record, named ‘Solo Electric Bass 1′ is a recording taken straight to tape with no post production or editing.
Warp have announced that it will be a limited run and also that it won’t be repressed.
