The Blues scale is widely used throughout many genres of music and is one of the most versatile scales to use as a basis for soloing or improvising. Its the Pentatonic Minor scale, but relieving the scale of the3rd to 4th whole tone jump, instead adding the half tone in between. Its this bit that make the scale so versatile.
If in doubt when improvising or soloing come back to the blues scale and see what happens.
Try to play this scale in 3 different positions on the fretboard in the same octave. You’ll also need to work out another fingering position to be able to do this. Have a crack.
- Listnin' 2 Blind Melon's 2nd album 'Soup' after re-reading about sad death of Hoon in '95. Great Album, some stuning bass work on here too..
